I have been teaching high school science for the last 16 years. I was raised and educated in Florida, graduating from the University of South Florida with a bachelor of science in Biomedical Sciences. One of the highlights of my collegiate career was completing an AmeriCorps program on Cape Cod Massachusetts. During my 11 month stay on the Cape, I worked with the Marine Biological Lab in Woods Hole, performing shellfish genetics research for the town of Mashpee. I love incorporating stories of sperm whale rescues, beach grass plantings, and even my chainsaw certification, into class presentations. i have taught and tutored students in California and Florida in EVERY high school science, but have found my niche teaching Biology. I am thrilled to be starting year nine at New West Charter as the new 9th grade lead teacher. I feel like this is the first educational environment that has challenged and supported me in a way that makes me proud to call New West Charter High School home!
